→Green Market Report
How can sustainable growth be achieved with green infrastructures?
Green Infrastructure on buildings such as green roofs and walls is an important part of the NBS development across Europe in light of climate change adaptation and re-naturing cities. The built environment mostly consists of transformable spaces at wall and roof level, therefore the potential is reasonable and attractive. In Austria, only 10% of the yearly new installed flat roofs are greened! Being able to strategically invest into green infrastructure on building level, Market, jobs and „bankable“ numbers have to pave the way. The Austrian Innovation Laboratory GRÜNSTATTGRAU, commissioned by the Austrian federal ministry of Climate action, Environment, Energy, Mobility and Technology (BMK) has taken action on delivering sound market about green roof and walls data for Austria in 2020, the Austrian Green Market Report in a compact and full version. By now, a first positioning paper of the branch has been published preliminary (https://gruenstattgrau.at/pdf-shop/). The Green Market Report compact will be available for free from August 2020. By 2021, the European Federation of Green Roof and wall Associations (EFB) has set the goal of presenting market data on a European scale.
In this Session, we would like to discuss the outputs and further possibilities for green roofs and walls as a lively market sector, providing Austria and Europe with market growth and Jobs. We would like to discuss about market-stimulating instruments, policies, incentives and political commitment from national to international scale. Questions like e.g. how can we connect to the European Green Deal? would be welcome and we would like to liaise with participants from especially policy making, politics, investments and financing.
Background: GSG has just published their first positioning paper. GSG is currently working on the Austrian Green Market Report on behalf of the Austrian Climate ministry (BMK). By Start of August, the first Compact version of the Austrian Market Report will be published (30 Pages). The full survey was conducted with detailed questionnaires that included 86 largest cities and towns in Austria, and the full number of businesses involved along the direct value chain (Planners, Suppliers, Installers, Maintainers, etc.). In September, the full green market report Austria will be published (100+Pages), in parallel we have started to deploy the market reporting process along other 15 European Countries Markets that will result in the first comprehensive European Green Market Report by start of 2021.
